Digestion

The pancreas is a small organ that lies close to the liver and stomach. It produces many chemicals (enzymes) that are important in keeping the body healthy. Examples of these chemicals are insulin, glucagon, and digestive enzymes. The digestive enzymes function to help with the continued breakdown of food. As food leaves the stomach and begins its journey down the small intestines, bile and the enzymes from the pancreas are released into the small intestines. Among these enzymes are lipase and amylase, which are both important in digestion.

A lack of these enzymes sometimes occurs because of a lack of proper development of the pancreas in the womb or because of trauma or accidents that may have damaged the pancreas. A lack of the pancreatic enzymes will result in a problem with digestion often referred to as malabsorbtion syndrome. An individual with malabsorbtion syndrome often takes food into their bodies, but they are unable to absorb the nutrients from the food. Some of the more common signs of malabsorbtion syndrome are diarrhea, weight loss, and lack of energy accompanied by a healthy appetite. The individual often stays hungry even though they are eating large amounts of food simply because they cannot absorb the food they are eating. By supplementing with pancreatic enzymes, either as a pill prior to eating or as a powder placed over the food before the meal, the symptoms of malabsorbtion can often be alleviated.

Many more Americans suffer from symptoms that result from the incomplete breakdown of the food they eat. Incomplete or slow digestion can cause food allergies. Food allergies can be seen as any number of problems, including, fatigue, joint pain, migraines, itching, sneezing, diarrhea and many others. It is critical that the food you eat be properly digested so that the important nutrients can be used in your body's cells. Our Pancreatic Enzymes product can aid in the proper breakdown of the food you eat.

Another problem that many American's suffer from is a lack of stomach acid (achlorohydra). This is far more common than suffering from too much acid. The symptoms of too little acid can easily be misinterpreted as having too much acid. Supplementing extra acid during a meal can aid in the speed and completeness of digestion. Taking Betaine HCL 638mg will supplement the acids in your stomach.

Another digestive problem is when "good bacteria" is lost when antibiotics are given, a high fever is experienced, or when diarrhea occurs for any reason. DDS® +, Probiotics with FOS contains 2.5 billion CFU per capsule of Lactobacillus Acidophilus (DDS strain), Bifidus, and Fructooligosaccharides; these good bacteria replace those that have been lost. These probiotics are also useful in lessening the symptoms of lactose intolerance.

Finally, Intestaide is designed to provide intensive support to the function of the digestive system itself. If the intestines are not functioning at their best, dietary and supplemental intake will not provide the body with the necessary nutrients. This product contains L-Glutamine, FOS (Fructooligosaccharides), soluble dietary fiber, and N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine.
